In an effort to make the SR&ED Tax Credit program more consistent with other programs offered through the CRA, the agency issued significant changes to the Review Process for Notice of Objections earlier this week. The SR&ED world is excited about these advancements, and how this further enhances the process for claimants.
Although this doesn’t completely eradicate all of the perceived difficulties with the SR&ED review system, it is definitely a step in the right direction. These changes give greater onus on the CRA Objection advisors to work WITH the claimant and resolve any issues with eligibility, rather than be seen as an obstacle standing in the way of the program benefits.
As the CRA continues to iron out all of the subtle details to perfect the program, it’s still best to work with a SR&ED expert, such as BeneFACT Consulting Group, to guide you and your company through the entire process – start to finish – including any reviews that may occur.
